The pursuit of gratification from vanity, the admiration of our idealized self-image led us to the obsession of our look. The hand mirrors made of wax created with the intention of reflecting on the concept of excessive selfishness. A hand mirror is a very intimate object, it’s meant for an affectionate view for the one who holds it. The more you hold the object the more it melts and deforms. Can our self-obsession deform and eventually vanish a physical object? How long can we hold our reflection?

The mirrors were made in an edition of 65 for the Beauty Dinner as part of the Neofuturistic dinner series at Mediamatic in Amsterdam.
